Oxford, Mississippi–It was a beautiful day in Oxford, Mississippi, today as the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun’ Cajuns made the trip to Ole Miss in hopes of coming away with a win over the University of Mississippi Rebels. Unfortunately for the Cajuns’, the day was not so glamorous. Ole Miss Rebels took control of the game fast. They scored quickly, with just 1:12 off the clock on a 37 yard pass to DaMarkus Lodge. That set the pace for most of the game.  A.J. Brown scored on a 31 yard pass to put Ole Miss up by 14. By the end of the 1st Quarter, the Rebels were up by 21 to 0 on a Jordan Ta’amu 8 yard rush.

With the 2nd Quarter underway, Ole Miss kept the heat turned up on the Cajuns.  A.J. Brown crossed the goal into the end zone again. With the score of 28-0, the Rebels were on their way to an easy victory. The Cajuns managed to score when Raymond Calais made a 31 yard rush. But the Cajuns defense could not stop Jordan Ta’amu’s 1 yard run, as the Rebels were again in the end zone. As the first half wound down, the Cajuns kept trying to put points on the board. After falling short of 6, they had to settle for a field goal.

Both teams headed to the locker room at the Half with one in control and the other planning to turn things around in the 2nd Half. But with temperature rising at the start of the 2nd Half the only team to put points on the board in the 3rd Quarter was Ole Miss. That came at the 9:23 on a Jordan Wilkins 3 yard rush. The 4th Quarter saw the Cajuns’ best scoring of the day. They scored 2 touchdowns, both on Jordan Davis runs. With the score 42-22, Ole Miss did not go scoreless in the 4th. Jordan Wilkins’ 3 yard rush with 8:25 and the 2 point conversion brought the final score to 50-22 at the end of the game.

Ole Miss goes to 5-5 on the season, with the Cajuns at 4-5.
